
Mt. View teachers and staff have an average of over 17 years of experience teaching children, and an average of over 14 years of working at Mt. View Preschool! Most of the teachers at Mt. View have college degrees, and some also hold advanced degrees in fields of education. Several of the teachers began teaching at Mt. View when their own children were students at the school. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education and working as a first grade teacher, Gayle Fulton joined the Mt. View staff in 1981 to help start the Pk/Enrichment Program with Janet Pierce. Gayle is Director Qualified and is currently a four-year-old and Pk/Enrichment Lead Teacher. All three of Gayle and her husband, Jim's, children are Mt. View graduates. She loves the Mt. View children and their families, saying that they have kept her excited about teaching. She feels honored to be part of such a dedicated, knowledgeable, empathetic and child-oriented staff. Gayle is a dedicated CU sport enthusiast and she enjoys traveling the world with her family. |

Patsy Jackson began teaching at Mt. View in 1974 after her oldest son attended preschool there as a four-year-old. She has taught 3's, 4's and 5's, both in teacher and Lead Teacher roles. She is strongly committed to Mt. View's educational philosophy for young children and enjoys getting to know each child as an individual, with the laughter, joy and sense of wonder that she or he brings to each day. Patsy loves being a part of the children's lives and teaching with wonderful friends on the Mt. View staff. She "can't imagine working anywhere else!" Patsy and her husband, Bill, have two sons and a granddaughter and enjoy traveling the world together! |

After her two sons and one daughter graduated form Mt. View, Debbie Lockwood joined the Mt. View staff as its "permanent substitute teacher". In 1994, she became a full time teacher, working with the 3's, 4's and 5's. Debbie loves working with the children, their families and the staff because of the joy, love and fulfillment they all bring to her life. She and her husband, Tom, look forward to visiting their grown children who are now located in California and Hawaii. |

Sue McGrath began teaching at Mt. View in 1990. She is currently teaching in the four-year-old program but has also taught in the 3's, Multi-Age and Pk/Enrichment classrooms, finding great enjoyment teaching at all levels of early childhood development. Truly embracing Mt. View's play-based approach to learning, Sue believes that the first five years of a child's life are the most important in his or her development as a lifelong learner. Outside of Mt. View, Sue enjoys making quilts and throughout the winter you will find her spending time skiing with her husband, Steve, and their son and daughter, both Mt. View graduates. She is also an active volunteer at Mt. View United Methodist Church, serving wherever she is needed. |

Joining the Mt. View staff in 1981 as its first Pk/Enrichment Lead Teacher, Janet Pierce has her Masters Degree in Early Education from the Peabody School for Teachers at Vanderbilt University. She is Director Qualified and continues to take classes to stay current in developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education. In 2001, she became the Lead Teacher in one of the three-year-old classes as well as continuing as a Pk/Enrichment Lead Teacher. Janet has admitted to being "a tennis maniac" but also enjoys biking and watching football games with her husband, Preston, and their college-age son and daughter, both of whom are Mt. View graduates. For Janet, it is fulfilling to see the wonder of the world through the eyes of her students and to watch them discover, learn and become more independent. Being around such uninhibited energy, love, learning and acceptance rejuvenates her daily. |

Patti Roberts teaches in one of the four-year-old classes at Mt. View. She left a career in the business world when her son, Jackson, was born. When Jackson graduated from both the three and four-year-old classes at Mt. View, Patti found she was unable to say goodbye to the Preschool and stayed on to teach in 1995. In support of her love for teaching and guiding young children, she obtained her Early Childhood certificate from Front Range Community College. Patti lives in Louisville with her husband, Casey, and their son, along with two cats. She enjoys scrap booking, making quilts and jewelry making in her spare time. |

After volunteering in the Mt. View classrooms when her son and daughter attended Mt View and deciding it would be rewarding to teach preschoolers, Joy Symes joined the Mt. View staff in 1990. She has a BS in Psychology and a Child Development Associate Degree and has worked as a school caseworker for Boulder Valley Public Schools. She has also taught preschool in Minnesota. The enthusiasm and excitement of the children delight Joy. She also loves the warm and nuturing environment of Mt View. Joy is a three-year-old Lead Teacher and has coordinated the Lunch Bunch Program from its inception. Joy feels a child has had a successful year at Mt. View when she or he leaves with a good sense of self-esteem. Her personal interests include spending time with her grandson, golfing, dancing, skiing, swimming, reading, volunteering at her church, cultivating friendships and spending time with her husband, Gary. |

Receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees in education in Germany, Anita Van Zeghbroeck came to Mt. View in 1998. Her two sons attended Mt. View and Anita discovered she wanted to stay and resume her teaching career with preschoolers. She teaches in the three-year-old program and finds Mt. View to be a special place of warm, loving, caring and nurturing teachers. She loves being with young children and their families and says, "It is fun to teach here!" Anita enjoys traveling to Europe with her husband, Bart, and their sons, to visit family and friends. |

| Susan Rhodes' first career was as a speech therapist in the public school system. She discovered Mt. View when her daughter and son attended the Preschool over a five-year period. She loved Mt. View as a parent for all the friendship and support the parents and teachers gave to each other. When the Preschool expanded to multiple morning classes in 1990, Susan joined the Mt. View staff. Now as a teacher, she loves being a part of many children's lives and meeting all the wonderful parents who support the school. Susan is Director Certified after taking classes at Front Range Community College. Susan enjoys treasure hunting at garage sales and has discovered many great finds for the Preschool. She has been a foster parent for several puppies before they advanced to companion dog training. |

| Joining Mt. View Preschool in 1975 as its Administrative Secretary, Judy Schineller has a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and an MBA in Marketing from Colorado State University. As Mt. View doubled in size and Summer Play and Lunch Bunch programs were added, her responsibilities expanded to include all financial portions of the program and she was appointed Administrative Assistant. She enjoys working with the director, teaching staff and Preschool Committee, helping them to improve and enrich the preschool program through financial enhancements. Judy has been a presenter at the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC), sharing her knowledge of basic budgeting, financial planning and cost cutting techniques. In 2005, she was chosen to present "Cutting Costs, Not Quality" at the annual national convention of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in Washington, D.C. Judy enjoys knitting, designing and working cross-stitch patterns, quilting and gardening. She is a devoted mystery reader and volunteers at the Longmont Library. She and her husband Bob are the proud grandparents of a granddaughter and grandson who are both graduates of Mt. View. |
